So today they woke up and decided to pretend like they were tourists instead of actually living in Thailand and headed off to the famous back packer destination- Khao San Road. Nicole was immediately happy to see that there was in fact somewhere that they could be surrounded by Americans and was pleased that in the months ahead they would have a refuge if they needed it. Andy assured her that she had nothing to worry about, but quickly concurred once he saw a large chili dog and fries come to the patron next to them.

Nicole finally found the Tom Yum soup that she had been desparetly looking for and it turned to be not too spicey and came with extra shrimp. Andy found some trunks, but being fooled once before in the kingdom of Siam wanted to be extra sure that they really fit.

After a few Tiger beers they decided that the best way to start their Thai life would be in the islands, so for 800 Baht they booked passage on a 10 hour bus ride which will take them to a ferry headed for Ko Tao tomorrow at 8 p.m. sharp. (or 20:00, nicole is learning time all over again). So, by 9:00 Thursday morning they'll be in the islands. First stop Kao Tao, where they are still contemplating taking up SCUBA diving, as it is one of the top 10 SCUBA destinations in the world, or they may just snorkle...they'll keep you posted.
Making thier way back to Guy's house they needed to use a restroom. They walked into a 7 Eleven, pointed to the word "toilet" in their Thai book, were laughed at, and finally escorted to a back room. Nicole's previous travel experience came in handy as Andy did not know how to flush the toilet. Nicole had a flash back of being yelled at in Spanish in the Guatemala City train station for not knowing how to "flush" a toilet and came through for team Andy and Nicole. She grabbed a bucket full of water, dumped it in the toilet and down it went. This technique has served Nicole many times and she was very happy to be able to share her toilet skills.
